Introduction To The Course

This course is made with material with courtasy of Harvard Center on the Developming Child,

The nature – nurture debat is not applicable to the brain. The brain will only develop in interaction with other people. In the old paradigm genes were considered to be like watering a plant: it either unfolds or not. This could not be further from the truth: even with a genetic neurodiversity the brain could potentially develop into many different directions. These possibilities are all influenced by the interactions with other people. A neurocircuit simply cannot grow without incentives. Neurons that fire together will only wire together when that route is taken several different times. It takes active practise. Without it a neurocircuit simply cannot possibly be formed, not with any type of genes.
